Your Travel Itenary
Day 1: Journey to the Mandakini Valley
- Route: Haridwar/Rishikesh to Guptkashi / Phata / Sonprayag
- Distance: ~210 km to 235 km | Drive Time: 8–10 hours
- Highlights: Drive through the confluence at Devprayag (where the Ganges begins) and Rudraprayag. As you enter the Mandakini Valley, the air becomes crisper and the mountain views more dramatic.
- Stay: Overnight in Guptkashi / Phata / Sonprayag.
- Note: Staying at Sonprayag allows for an earlier start, while Guptkashi/Phata offers better hotel amenities and helicopter base access.
Day 2: The Sacred Ascent
- Route: Sonprayag to Shri Kedarnath Jyotirlinga Temple (Trek)
- Trek Distance: 17 km | Avg Time: 7–9 hours
- Morning: Take a local shuttle to Gaurikund (the trek starting point). Begin the steady climb alongside the roaring Mandakini River.
- Afternoon: Reach the Kedarnath base camp. Witness the temple’s majestic stone architecture against the backdrop of the Kedar Dome.
- Evening: Attend the powerful evening Aarti.
- Stay: Overnight in Kedarnath (Camps/Guesthouses).
Day 3: Divine Darshan & Descent
- Route: Kedarnath to Guptkashi / Rudraprayag
- Morning: Participate in the early morning Darshan or Abhishek. Take time to visit the Bhairav Nath Temple (500m trek from the main temple) for a panoramic view of the entire valley.
- Afternoon: Begin the downhill trek back to Gaurikund. The descent is faster but requires caution on the knees.
- Evening: Meet your vehicle at Sonprayag and drive to your evening halt.
- Stay: Overnight in Guptkashi / Rudraprayag.
Day 4: Return to the Holy Plains
- Route: Guptkashi / Rudraprayag to Haridwar / Rishikesh
- Distance: ~165 km to 210 km | Drive Time: 6–8 hours
- Highlights: A relaxed drive back. Reflect on your journey at Dhari Devi Temple (if time permits) or stop in Rishikesh for a final view of the Ganges.
