Your Travel Itenary
Day 1: Journey to the Base Village
Route: Haridwar/Rishikesh to Sagar Village (near Gopeshwar)
Distance: ~215 km | Drive Time: 8–9 hours
Highlights:
Devprayag: Witness the holy confluence where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi merge to form the Ganga.
Gopeshwar: Visit the ancient Gopinath Temple, famous for its massive trident (Trishul) that has remained rust-free for centuries.
Stay: Overnight in Sagar Village or Gopeshwar.
Day 2: The Ascent to the Alpine Highlands
Route: Sagar Village to Panar Bugyal / Lyuti Bugyal (Trek)
Trek Distance: 10–12 km | Elevation: ~3,400m
The Trek: A challenging climb through dense forests of oak and rhododendron. As you break the tree line, you enter the vast, rolling alpine meadows.
Stay: Overnight in Alpine Camps at Panar Bugyal / Lyuti Bugyal.
Note: Panar offers grand 360-degree Himalayan views, while Lyuti Bugyal is a quieter alternative located slightly further along the trail, closer to the final pass.
Day 3: Darshan at the Stone Temple & Descent
Route: Panar/Lyuti Bugyal to Rudranath Temple & Back to Sagar
Trek Distance: 8 km (to Temple) + 12 km (Descent) | Elevation: 3,600m
Activity:
Pitradhar: Cross this high-altitude ridge where pilgrims traditionally leave a small stone in memory of their ancestors.
Rudranath Temple: A natural rock-cut temple where Lord Shiva is worshipped as “Nilkanth Mahadev” in the form of a face.
Narad Kund: Take a holy dip in the cold waters near the temple.
Evening: Begin the long downhill trek back to the base village.
Stay: Return to Uttarkashi for the night.
Day 4: Return to the Foothills
Route: Sagar Village to Haridwar / Rishikesh
Distance: ~215 km | Drive Time: 8 hours
Highlights: A scenic drive back through the Alaknanda valley. Stop at Rudraprayag or Srinagar for a final riverside break.
Evening: Drop-off at Haridwar or Rishikesh Railway Station/Airport.
Important Traveler’s Notes
- Trek Intensity: This is considered the hardest trek of the Panch Kedar. It requires high physical fitness and previous trekking experience.
- Self-Sufficiency: This is a “No-Road” zone. Ensure you have high-grip trekking boots and adequate warm layers for the night.
