Day 1: Journey to the Spiritual Hub
Route: Haridwar/Rishikesh to Uttarkashi
Distance: ~170 km | Drive Time: 6–7 hours
Highlights: * Tehri Dam: View the massive reservoir of one of India’s largest dams.
Kashi Vishwanath Temple: Visit this ancient temple in Uttarkashi, dedicated to Lord Shiva, to seek blessings for the journey ahead.
Day 2: The Skywalk & The Sacred Temple
Route: Uttarkashi to Gangotri (via Gartang Gali)
Distance: ~100 km | Drive Time: 4–5 hours
Major Highlight: Gartang Gali (The Step Bridge)
Activity: A 2.5 km easy trek from Lanka (near Bhaironghati) leads you to this historic wooden bridge.
Significance: Built in the 15th century, this was the primary trade route for nomadic Bhotiya tribes trading salt and wool with Tibet. It offers a dizzying view of the Nelong Valley and the roaring Jadh Ganga river below.
Evening: Continue the drive to Gangotri. Attend the evening Aarti as the sun sets over the Bhagirathi peaks.
Day 3: Divine Immersion & Harsil Exploration
Route: Gangotri to Uttarkashi
Morning: Early morning Darshan at Gangotri Temple. Visit the Bhagirath Shila and the Gauri Kund waterfalls.
Afternoon: Explore the Harsil Valley. Walk through the ancient apple orchards and visit the “Wilson House” to learn about the local folklore of “Pahari Wilson.”
Relaxation: Stop at Gangnani on the way back for a dip in the medicinal hot springs to soothe your muscles.
Day 4: Return to the Foothills
Route: Uttarkashi to Haridwar / Rishikesh
Distance: ~170 km | Drive Time: 6 hours
Highlights: Enjoy a scenic drive back through the winding mountain roads. Stop at Chamba for lunch with a view of the Himalayan ranges.
Evening: Drop-off at Haridwar or Rishikesh Railway Station/Airport.
